Severna Park, MD – [11/9/2023] – The Maryland Catholic Women’s Conference is pleased to announce that Emily Strab has been named the 2023 Maryland Catholic Woman of the Year. This prestigious award is presented to individuals who embody the virtues of faith, hope, and love, while demonstrating outstanding spirituality, leadership, and service to Christ, His Church, and society.
The Maryland Catholic Woman of the Year award was established to recognize remarkable women in the state of Maryland who live their faith daily, much like the revered Mother Mary. These exceptional individuals serve as intercessors for others and inspire those around them to draw closer to Jesus Christ. Their dedication to both their faith and their communities is truly exemplary.
Emily Strab is a Catholic school teacher who is a dedicated wife of a US Navy officer and mother of four. She has made significant contributions to her community as a City of Hyattsville Council Member. She brings her unwavering faith into the public arena, demonstrating her commitment to service, leadership, and the spiritual well-being of those around her. As a music educator at St. Jerome Institute in Washington, D.C., she has worked to bring the beauty of the musical traditions of the Catholic church to her students. Her tireless efforts to promote faith, hope, and love have made her a role model for many.
The award will be presented by Bishop Bruce Lewandowski during the upcoming Maryland Catholic Women Conference, “Holy Women, Holy Lives,” which will take place on Saturday, November 11th, at St. John the Evangelist in Severna Park. This much-anticipated event has garnered immense interest and is already sold out, with over 600 participants expected to attend, including English and Spanish track attendees, notable speakers, religious, ministries, and vendors. The conference provides a platform for individuals to connect, listen to engaging speakers, and participate in the sacraments together.
Emily Strab’s selection as the 2023 Maryland Catholic Woman of the Year exemplifies the values of faith, hope, and love in action. The MCWC is proud to celebrate her achievements and honor her for her dedication to serving Christ, His Church, and society.
